The French DELF Junior Diploma awarding ceremony took place on 20th November at Alliance Française de Cork for the post-primary students who took part in the 2nd edition of our "DELF for DEIS" initiative last academic year organised with the support of the Cork City Council.

The parchments were presented to the students by Ms Laura Le Cléach, French Language Attachée (from the Embassy of France in Ireland) and Ms Valérie David-McGonnell, AF de Cork President.

We were delighted to launch this scholarship programme in 2022/2023.
We will be launching the 2025 edition of this programme for Cork City DEIS Schools very soon!

New art exhibition in our gallery:
"Unreality", by artist Michaela McCann, recipient of the 2024 Alliance Française de Cork MTU CCAD Award.

Michaela McCann’s work explores absurdity and unreality through the medium of oil painting and photography. Through the use of techniques such as disjunction and displacement, Michaela conveys a sense of unreality in her work. The imagery in her work creates irrational and dream-like compositions, giving the work a sense of other-worldliness. Michaela takes inspiration from everyday life, often photographing objects or settings and taking them out of their usual contexts and then combining and juxtaposing them together in order to give the work a bizarre quality and provoke thought in the viewer. Through her work, Michaela aims to challenge social institutions by rejecting the logic and rationality of everyday life and instead embrace the nonsensical.

On 13th September we were honoured to welcome Her Excellency Céline Place, our new Ambassador Designate of France in Ireland, and Vincent Caure, new Deputy representing French people living abroad (Northern Europe constituency) for their very first visit to Cork.

We were also delighted to welcome our French Vice-Consul Monika Lewitowicz, the Counsellors of French people abroad Laurence Helaili-Chapuis and Nicolas Nouelle-Parrat, and the honorary Consuls Josselin Le Gall (Cork), Loïc Guyon (Limerick) and Melanie O’Reilly (Wexford).
