Alliance Francaise de Cork is a not-for-profit organisation, registered as a Charity, and managed by a voluntary President & Board.
Besides teaching French and organising cultural events since 1947, we have created and participated in a number of charity initiatives since 2022:
- In 2022, we have created the "DELF for DEIS" initiative which allows one Transition Year student from each secondary DEIS school in Cork City to prepare for and sit the French DELF A2 diploma free of charge, with the support of the Cork City Council. This initiative now takes place every year and 10 to 15 students avail of this scholarship every school year.
- In 2025, we supported the CUH Cork to Paris Cycle by providing participants with a free place in one of our French group courses.
- In May 2025, we made a donation to the primary school of Batack, a village situated in a French-speaking region of Cameroon.
- From March to June 2025, we provided a talented 13-year-old Ukrainian pianist/composer with free French classes in order to prepare him for his trip to Paris for a piano competition.
