ENG: To conclude the 2025 #Francophonie Month in Cork (which we started with the Cork French Film Festival in early March), we were delighted to welcome Benjamin Boutin (Author and Hon. President of Francophonie sans frontières) for two events organised this week with the support of the Embassy of France in Ireland:
Many thanks to Benjamin Boutin for giving a very informative talk in French about the history of the Francophonie, and for presenting his comic book ’À la découverte de la Francophonie’ last night at Alliance Française de Cork. Thank you to all the attendees of this French-language event which was introduced by AF de Cork President Valérie David-McGonnell, Hon. Consul of France to Cork Josselin LE GALL, and Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Honore Kamegni.
Congratulations to the three winners of the Francophonie Quiz which was organised with the support of AIPLF Ireland which was represented by its Vice President, Dr Mary Haslam.
Our thanks also to Regina Butler, Principal of Scoil Mhuire Cork, her French teachers Anne and Rosemary and their 5th Year students for their warm welcome to their school today.

Merci à tous les participants de cet événement francophone qui a été introduit par la présidente de l’AF de Cork, Valérie David-McGonnell, le consul honoraire de France à Cork, Josselin LE GALL, et le maire adjoint de la Ville de Cork, Honore Kamegni.
Félicitations aux trois gagnants du Quiz de la Francophonie que nous avons organisé à la fin de cette soirée, avec le soutien de l’AIPLF qui était représentée par sa vice-présidente, Dr Mary Haslam.

To celebrate Francophonie Month, we organise, with the support of the French Embassy in Ireland and of the AIPLF (Irish association of post-primary French-Language teachers) an event in French about the Francophonie,
on Wednesday 26th March, at 7 pm, at Alliance Française de Cork.
Our guest Benjamin Boutin (French Lecturer, Author and Hon. President of Francophonie sans frontières) will talk about the history of the Francophonie and about his new comic book (A la découverte de la Francophonie).
We will then have a Francophonie quiz, with a prize to be won.

L’École buissonnière / The School of Life
In 1930s Paris, Paul, a young war orphan, is taken in by Célestine, a maid, and her gamekeeper husband, Borel, who work for the Count of Fresnaye in the Sologne region.
Paul is left to explore the countryside, where he befriends a poacher named Totoche who teaches him about nature. Paul soon finds himself caught between Totoche and Borel, who is determined to catch the poacher.
The film explores themes of nature, family, and the value of life, as Paul learns important lessons about the world around him.

Alliance Française de Cork is delighted to support the CUH Charity Cork to Paris Cycle, by providing the participants with a free place on our January French Refresher Course.
The CUH Charity Cork to Paris Cycle is a 6-day cycling journey from Ireland to France which will take place from 21st to 27th May 2025, in support of CUH patients.

On 22nd January, it was an honour to welcome to Alliance Francaise de Cork H.E. Ms Jenny Piaget, Ambassador of Switzerland to Ireland, Deputy Head of Mission Mr Andreas Lüssi, and Hon. Consul to Cork Ms Anne-Kristine Kjelsen.
In Her Excellency’s honour, we prepared a quiz in French about Switzerland for students attending French classes today.
Students also had the opportunity to sample Swiss chocolate and cheese.
