The A1 Level (Breakthrough or beginner) user
- Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Description of DELF A1 examination
Listening
- Comprehension questions based on three or four very short recordings about everyday life (played twice)
- Maximum duration of recordings: 3 mins
Reading
- Comprehension questions based on four or five written documents about everyday life
Writing
Two parts test:
- Filling in a form
- Writing simple sentences (postcards, messages, stories etc) on everyday topics
Speaking
Oral examination in three parts:
- Guided conversation (Approximately 1 minute)
- Exchanging information (Approximately 2 minutes)
- Role-play (Approximately 2 minutes)
