On 2nd October, the training day for 2026-2027 French Language Assistants in Ireland took place, at Alliance Française Dublin.

Valérie David-McGonnell, President of Alliance Française de Cork and post-primary teacher, and Léa Vincent, teacher at Alliance Française Cork and former French language assistant, took part in this training day organised by the Embassy of France in Ireland for the 100 newly-arrived French Language Assistants.

Valérie and Léa delivered a presentation on the French examinations at Junior and Senior Cycle levels and a workshop on the concept of “mallette pédagogique".

This was also an opportunity to mention the workshops we organise for secondary schools that visit us in Cork, our upcoming singing workshops as part of #Think #Languages #Week, the school screenings of our Cork French Film Festival in October, and the resources available on our website.

We thank the Cultural Service of the Embassy of France in Ireland for inviting us to take part in this event, and our Ambassador of France, H.E. Céline Place, for the invitation to a reception at the Residence of France with the French Language Assistants at the end of this training day.
