Cork Lifelong Learning Festival 2016

AFCork are proud to take part yet again this year in Cork’s Lifelong Learning Festival, which promotes and celebrates learning of all kinds, across all ages, interests and abilities. The festival’s motto is Investigate, Participate, Celebrate, and the public can do so by watching demonstrations, trying out skills, and seeing others, from the young to the old, show off what they are learning.

Monday 11th April 2016

@ 2pm – 3pm

CITY OF BRODEAUX.  A virtual walk through the Southern French city of Bordeaux, exploring Bordeaux’s famous landmarks, tense history, speciality food, rich culture and famous people. Une vrai expérience française not to be missed ! Presented by Matthieu Nivard

 

Tuesday 12th April 2016

@ 1pm – 2pm

CONVERSATION SUR LA LITTERATURE FRANÇAISE CONTEMPORAINE. A talk examining the literary writers of the 20th century France, specifically approaching the end of the century. Focusing particularly on female literature, this talk promises to draw literature enthusiasts towards the wonderful French catalogue written at the time. Presented by Sophie Carton

 

Thursday 14th April 2016

@1.30 – 2.30pm  Lunchtime Talk:

CITY OF STRASBOURG. A discovery into the frontier city of Strasbourg from a Strasbourg native. Situated on the French/German border this vibrant city is blended with French and German architectural and cultural influences. Come and discover the famous Christmas Market of Strasbourg, the speciality food of the region, and the many European Institutions. Presented by Léa Tarride

Les châteaux de la Loire LES CHATAUX DE LA LOIRE. Uncover aspects of the French Renaissance through the châteaux of the Loire Valley in central France. Examine the history and geography of French castles, and learn the histories of their past residents. Presented by Léonie Tauron

Friday 15th April 2016

@1.30pm – 2.30pm

CITY OF NANTES.  A discovery of the beautiful French city of Nantes through its culture and artistic spirit. Focusing on the renowned artistic project Les Machines de l’île, including the incredible L’éléphant  mécanique, and L’arbre à hérons, this talk explores the creative aspect of this French city. Presented by Marina Oracolo
