Alliance Française de Cork an international label of quality teaching….
As an internationally recognised label of quality supported by the French Embassy, the Alliance Française has a long-standing tradition of excellence and expertise in teaching French and promoting French culture.
At Alliance Française de Cork we offer courses for all ages and levels, from pre-school, primary, secondary, to third-level and adults. We offer over 15 different levels and course types for Adults in line with the CEFR (the Common European Framework Reference for foreign language acquisition). At 22.5 hours per term for group tuition with comfortable class sizes, our courses for Adults are at an optimum course length in line with the CEFR recommendations for course progression.
All our tutors are fully-qualified educators and French native speakers and our personalised service ensures a clear understanding of each student’s needs and objectives – we can assess students’ levels, advise them on the best course options, whether they wish to learn French for pleasure, business or exam purposes.
Alliance Française de Cork is the only language institute in Cork which is also an accredited DELF/DALF diploma exam centre, selected by the CIEP and French Ministry of Education. This means that all our tutors are officially trained and qualified DELF and DALF instructors and examiners. As such, we offer students (internal and external) the possibility of obtaining an official, internationally recognised certification of their level in French (the DELF and DALF are diplomas awarded by the French Government), which is an excellent and relatively inexpensive way to upskill. There are also special diplomas for Business French – DELF-PRO, and even diplomas for primary and secondary-level students!
The AF also offers a ‘language laboratory programme’ (Speedlingua) to improve oral comprehension and expression , uses smartboard-technology to enhance language-learning, and distance learning courses are currently being developed.
Courses for pre-schoolers, and primary-age children are also on offer (including a French through art programme), and wide range of programmes for second-level students with special 10-week long and weekend preparation courses for the Leaving Cert Oral exam scheduled for the new term. Exam preparation for Third-level is also available.
We endeavour to offer more in the language-learning experience. As a vibrant cultural centre with monthly exhibitions, conferences, master-classes, and the annual Cork French Film Festival in March, we offer students a genuine and tangible link with France and French culture. All our students and members have automatic access to our resource centre, which is unique in Cork, of books, magazines and dvds, and to our monthly cinéclub and book club.
