A RIDE ON THE WILD SIDE PAR ALAIN SAGAULT

May 1, 2006

Alain Sagault was born in Paris and belongs to a long established family of artists. He studied in the Sorbonne getting a Master’s and “agrégation de lettres”, subsequently becoming a teacher in French litterature and linguistics. Soon he became involved in the artistic world, becoming an actor and creating a fully improvised one-man show “Les Milles et une Nuits du Tarot”. He has written many short stories and chronicles and has published to date eight books including two for children and three specifically for artists named “livres-sujets”.

As an artist, Alain Sagault has studied mainly in Venice, he has been painting for the last fifteen years presenting exhibitions in many parts of France also in Venice and Houston.

This artist met Noelle Campbell-Sharp at an exhibition at the National Gallery in ’02, and thanks to this meeting he was awarded two residencies at the Cill Rialaig Artists Retreat. As a result of these two extraordinary experiences that A Ride on the Wild Side will be presented at the Alliance Francaise Cork and directly afterwards at the Alliance Française Dublin.

This exhibition incorporates painting, writing and storytelling, hence beautifully recreating the magical atmosphere of this Hibernian “bout du monde”. The artist’s dream is that these delightful painting, photos and stories will one day all come together in a book The Cill Rialaig Tales.

His work is widely detailed on his new website at www.sagault.com
