’2005-2061′ : DERRIÈRE LES RIDEAUX PAR MAGALI PETTIER

2005-2061: Derriere les rideaux is work presented in 2 parts. The major part, which includes 24 images, takes a look at everyday life of the people in Kathmandu, Nepal, when visited by the artist in Feb, March 2005. The purpose of this exhibition is to give the audience an opportunity to look at aspects of the contrasts that take place in one and only city, Kathmandu. A city, where westernization seems to have emerged greatly, but also a city with a purpose to give equal opportunity to everybody.

The second part, which includes 3 sets of images, each taken in 2000-2001 during the course of a year’s travel in South Asia, shows how daunting the meeting of 2 cultures can be. We think we know, we think we understand, but do we?
